What is MunhwaMetrics?
MunhwaMetrics is a coined term combining:
- “Munhwa” (문화) – the Korean word for culture
- “Metrics” – a term for measuring data or performance
Together, MunhwaMetrics means the measurement and analysis of cultural forces, particularly how they relate to freedom of expression, media, and public discourse in Korea.
What is at the heart of culture if not a free press? Press freedom in South Korea is a work in progress—shaped by courtrooms, code, and controversy. This site aims to cut through the noise with data, context, and reporting that tracks how speech is protected, challenged, and controlled in one of Asia’s most wired democracies.
